you cannot quit if you want severance. resigning is different from being laid off. When you are laid off, you get money, if you resign, you only get backpay.

Ahn - drea is lucky to have been working for a generous transnational firm who can afford to give those they lay-off a more than graceful exit.
Her choice was boredom or a handsome separation package.
From what I’ve heard, those working for wholly Filipino-owned firms and even some transnationals aren’t too lucky.
Their choice is either under-employment or long lines at the NLRC.
