I don’t think it’s a good idea to submit it, L. I like it okay, and it’s perfectly fine here in your site where the readers get you, but in our predominantly catholic/christian country, there are just too many people who might take it the wrong way and the philippine star might get into trouble over it as well as you.
I still prefer the Manga Messiah and the Revised Catholic Edition over Jesus Cullen here.

Have to agree. It is in vogue to bash the Church around the world but it is a great disservice to those who still have faith in it and those who strive to to do something about its problems despite all challenges.

Tora^2: I think it’s more than just sensitivity. L has the leisure of putting an explanation with the strip here at the site so it’s clear that it’s meant to be funny and not offensive but he doesn’t have the same luxury in the papers. There are just way too many people who go out of their way to nitpick and look for offenses that they can use as a platform for their own agenda. They can’t attack L’s strips here because it’s his site where he’s very clear on his intent, but there’s no such safety when the strip is in the paper because L technically sells or rents out the strip for public consumption. We Beerkadets know that L’s not a blasphemous heretic, but just about anybody else is bound to pick up a national paper on any given day. The manga messiah strip is safer because Jesus Christ Superstar is deemed acceptable Christian entertainment, Twilight, not so much.
1. there’s no explanation needed as the strip speaks for itself.
2. the manga bible is a faithful retelling of the bible.
3. “jesus christ superstar” is not as it follows the gnostic accounts.
4. i’m with Tora^2 on this one. the fact that L’s asking for people’s opinions mean that this is something that still goes against his better judgment.

I agree with Phoebe. WE understand you… we deem you a genius in the way you let your humor shine. But other people may not see it that way. I just don’t want this to become an issue. Especially now with the Catholic church at an uproar with the latest scandal…
