And yes, my father doesn’t have to wait for Star Trek-like voice command to interact with his gadgets. He gets my mom to do it for him.

huh. my mom has been using voice command on every one of our appliances for 3 decades. And her use of the home shopping network predates cable.

Ah, pagers…. I used to have one in high school, during the same era of mobile phones the size of bricks.
