im in the laguna. we dont usually ride a taxi, but the scenario is really common.
if you are going to ride your company shuttle but a jeep is at the front,
or you are going to ride a jeep with route A but jeep with route B is at front.
what i do is . . .
walk few steps backwards. slowly. the tendency would be, the passenger vehicle at front would slow down, thinking im a passenger for him. when that happens, usually the passenger vehicle behind wiLL over-take. then i take my chances, run backwards chasing the one who overtakes, waving & looking him at the eye.
presto. i got my ride. =)
Its either:
– Wave to the driver with eye-contact so that the taxi driver knows you are waving at him.
– Move towards the taxi using the side walk while waving. This is also effective when you are in a hurry.
some taxis take a moment to stop and roll out there windows to see if you are indeed sending signals.. sometimes they look funny~
This is why I hate commuting. 🙁
When I worked in Makati, I tried to flag down the bus going to Cavite. Very hard to flag down a bus going that way at 6PM. The bus was almost to the curb when a freakin’ taxi suddenly cut in front of it, forcing it to move to the middle lane.
It’s like the taxi came right out of nowhere! Like a bat out of hell. It wasn’t even in front of the bus!
Bwiset.
Try waving your hand after the trike driver’s head is past you.
I’m sure Mr LPG-guzzling cabbie can see your hand and brake in time
haha. light-bending FTW.
