One of the reasons I stayed away from HIMYM for a long time was that I felt the show was a Friends rip-off: a bunch of snarky caucasians living in New York. But what sets HIMYM apart, and the reason I started watching it, was Barney Stinson.
Barney, as played by Neil Patrick Harris, is a show-stealer in the same vein as Samantha Jones from SinC. But Barney is even better: while Samantha brought an attitude, he brought a whole philosophy of awesomeness.
The next best show-stealer is the cheer coach from Glee.
And ironically, that icon of Manly Awesomeness as seen in HIMYM and to some extent in the Harold & Kumar films is openly homosexual

I have nothing against Mr Harris being gay. However, I find it amazing how he can play such Alpha Male figures as Barney Stinson

Yeah, I remember that story. That time though, Fe already knew that Jimmy is the one when they saw each other in the bar, clueless lang talaga si Jimmy and he dragged Fe along so that they can look for the one together. “Bilis, baka makita pa natin!”, hehe.
