Kenyans are the Harry Potter books of the running world. Other runners complain they keep taking the top slots, blocking everyone else from getting in the list.
Running events should take a cue from the bestseller’s list and make a separate category for international participants. *wink*
Or just institute a Hall of Fame, barring honorees from competing. Just like what they did for UP College of Fine Arts during all Lantern Parades.
I agree that there should be an international/Pro category if Kenyans and other foreign pro-runners compete.
The `Fro on Jay was a surprise. I was thinking: “What’s with Coach Rio and that eyepatch?”
@Tora – Kulang na lang, Vespa. Hehehe.
And we shouldn’t take the opportunity to malign the Kenyans. As someone mentioned in the Takbo.ph forums: “instead of complaining about them, try actually beating them at running.”
But I don’t find it fair that I beat them when my goal is to beat my own personal record when they’re in it for the money. It’s just as unfair for them to run in categories meant for amateur runners out to break personal records just for the prize money.
That’s why I think Amateurs and Pros/Semi-Pros should run in separate categories.
@Tora: That sounds about right. it’s not a matter of nationality, but whether a runner is a pro or amateur.
