There is what I’d say is a spiritual predecessor to the 2010 Space Battleship Yamato film called the Otoko Tachi No Yamato (2005) which is about the said Battleship before the Americans sank it and centuries before it was turned into a Spacecraft
There’s a sequel to Yamato called Yamato Revival with updated graphics and an updated wave motion gun that fires not one, not two but 6 shots with an even more powerful blast if you use all six at once and yes… I am a geek and proud of it
Apparently, Earthers aren’t the only guys using a retrofitted WW2-era warship. Until recently, the Philippine Navy’s flagship was a US Navy Destroyer escort called the USS Atherton from the 1940s. It’s still in service with us and we call it the BRP Rajah Humabon.

Yeah, Chompy and I watched that. Silly empire with its obsolete dreadnoughts.
Though, it is more sad said crew of the Imperial Japanese Battleship were sacrificed to USN dive and torpedo bombers
