hey sir lyndon..random thought just occurred to me since this is a strip that involves watching a movie..what if we make a movie featuring ur beloved beerkada gang?! 🙂 i already got a list of local talents to play each of ur characters..i chose them based on my opinion who they physically resemble and as for the others, i based it on the actor/actress who has a personality similar to theirs..tell me watcha think of the ff, ok? 😀
1. Glen – Patrick Garcia! Just look at that hair, those bangs! This was the ultimate boy-next-door look of the 90’s..and Patrick Garcia’s voice seems to have never gotten past puberty and I think that this perpetual teenager image of his makes him fit into the mold of the resident “torpe” all the more..
2. Bryan – Vandolph..or better yet, Jinggoy Estrada! Haha, self-explanatory! a very obvious and witty reference! Bryan’s even a direct homage to Erap himself-the hair, pot belly, womanizing flair, lack of scruples etc!
3. Alan – Sam Milby! Hehe! Nope, Im not kidding! I don’t care what u ppl think, I think that if u put a moustache and shades on Sam, he’d make one hot Alan! My 2nd choice tho would be Vic Sotto (tall, skinny frame, always subject to hi-jinks and pranks..) but he’s too old to be playing a college kid tho!
4. Harry – Drew Arellano! He’s perfect to radiate that creepy aura for a greasy-haired, glasses-wearing evil genius!
5. Jay – Jericho Rosales! Tho Jay’s not as prominently featured as the others, he and Alan share the top spot as the hottest Beerkada Boyz in my book! ;-D That’s why I casted good-looking actors for them, mmm! Ok,now goin back to Echo as Jay..I seen Echo wearin a backwards baseball cap and longish hair and let’s face it, Echo looks more like a streetsmart UP activista than a pa-conyo Atenean rich kid..
6. Jimmy – Rainier Castillo..?! Ok, I’ll admit I haven’t convinced myself enough abt this particular casting choice..I dunno much abt Rainier except that he’s a GMA talent and based on the images i Googled up, he has Jimmy’s Chinito eyes and could pass off as the gang’s perpetually oblivious friend if he styled his hair differently and worked up his expression..someone pls give me a better suggestion when u have thot up of one, thanks!;-D
7. Boopey’s-Law-School-Friend-Who’s-Crushing-On-Her – er, sorry..what was his name..? Anyways, Atom Araullo is perfect! Another dreamy celeb who happens to be an overachiever and a UPian in real life! Boopey’s Law School friend seems to be the intellectual type AND cute as well (i still love Alan more tho, hehe!) thus making Atom just right for the role!
And that’s all I have for the guys..Lemme make a separate post for the girls..hold on..
1. Andrea/Chompy – Iya Vilania! Both girls are perky, happy, kikay ppl.. And Iay looks like the type to give “love-bites” to her honey.. Let’s just give Iya some curls to complete the look.. hehe, sorry Drew, looks like ur GF’s gonna be paired w/ Patrick instead! ;-p
2. Boopey – Patty Laurel! Btw, The Boops is my personal fave Beerkada gal! Patty and Boops are both smart, driven young women and yet still exude hip feminine appeal and knows how to have fun.. Haha, a bit of irony that Patty’s real-life BF Atom is cast as the LawSchool bud who has a forbidden crush on her! :-p Oooh how i love to torture the guys!
3. Fe – Heart Evangelista! OMG! Why did I just cast an artista who’s known to be a ditzy kikay airhead partygirl as the more simple, down-to-earth Fe? Well, just look at their eyes..the chinita-ness of their eyes have it..not to mention the straight long black hair..
4. Dana – KC Concepcion! This aint no joke! Both are well-heeled, polished (read: spoiled, prissy) young ladies and both love to travel..and besides, KC struck me as the type who’s not too aware of the harsh scenes of Filipino everyday life/reality, very much like Dana..
5. Aling Mcbeal- Chantal Umali! Hotdog girl and the Hotdog vendor..Both chubby..that’s the only reason I can think of..
6. Sadako- Pokwang! She’ll make one hilarious Sadako! Her scary fugly mug would scare the hell outta Harry!
7. Racquel – Bianca King! Both are sex kittens who exude b*tchiness (whoa posible ba un? Did I just describe a couple of girls as bein like a cat and a dog at the same time in a single sentence?! haha, the irony of the contradiction!)
8. Franchette – Angelica Panganiban! Curvy, voluptuous chicks who also exude b*tchiness (nge! and now im describing 2 girls as bein like a cat and a hen’s offspring at the same time?!)
9. Pebbles – Kristine Hermosa! Tintin w/ her wholesome ” tisay” beauty can easily portray the seemingly sweet good girl Pebbles who was easily mislead into unwanted pregnancy (now let’s just trim her hair and give her a headband and a fake baby bump..) Oh and I really did not intend to pair up Tintin and Echo here! (Jay and Pebbles once dated years after college ended..) Hehe, would be interesting tho to see their reaction to the unintentional revival of their once glorious and profitable love team! ;-D
tingzkie: The Beerkada are mostly 26 to 28 years old, except for andrea and fe, who are slightly younger and Aling McBeal, who is significantly older.
I think Vhong Navarro would make a better Alan than Sam Milby (Sam Milby is too Fil-Am). And Nanette Inventor would be a closer match for Aling McBeal. Dana stated early on that she would like to be portrayed by Angelu de Leon. Btw, who did you have in mind for PsychoCow?
Phoebs: Hehe, u got a point there abt Sam bein too Fil-Am for the role of Alan (I guess I was too biased just coz I gotta bit of a crush on Sam myself!)..Alan after all still is a “lovable probinsyano” at heart even after he acquired a more cosmopolitan taste throughout the evolution of the strips, too far off from Sam’s persona/looks..Good idea there abt casting Vhog Navarro instead, I didn’t think of that!;-D

As for Dana wanting to be portrayed by Angelu, yup, I just saw Sir Lyndon post up a quiz abt that..Let’s just respect Dana’s wishes as to who she wants to be playing her part ;-D
Ahh, PsychoCow? Eek, lisod mana ang iya..I intentionally did not cast him into any role for the ff reasons: 1. It is difficult coz where can we get a real live local talent to play in costume a disgruntled bull w/ udders? Think about it, if u were a local actor, would u jump at a chance to play such a role?, 2. Mutating a real-live bull to have a set of udders and a bad-ass ‘tude is not an option coz our country does not have the finances for such a project and this is not just ethical, gotta prevent cruelty to animals.. and last but not least, 3. I was nervous about casting someone for PsychoCow coz knowing his temper, he’d probably want to hunt me down and kill me.. no matter who I’d say I wna play PsychoCow, he’s just take offense..hmmm? What abt a CGI-rendered PsychoCow instead? Do you or anyone have any suggestions? Post here at your own risk of PsychoCow’s wrath, mwahahaha!;-D
