I want to catch up on my reading this 2016, and I decided to use audio books so I can multitask as I draw. I am focusing on essential science fiction, and I’ve started with Frank Herbert’s Dune to ease me into the experience. The familiar content will allows to compare between film, series, and print versions so I can determine if audio books is a a viable format for me. Listening to audio books for the meantime will also let my favorite podcasts to pile on new episodes so I can binge on them at a later time.
So far, the narrator is doing his best to supply the voices for the different characters. It’s a little distracting. Also, audio books share a common weakness with film in that you don’t know how proper nouns are spelled. This is especially noticeable with science fiction/fantasy stories.
