A late tribute to Francis M.

francismI remember Francis Magalona back when he was the designated rapper for Loveli-Ness, Alma Moreno’s primetime variety show on channel 13. During the top 10 music countdown portion, he’d be wearing full 80’s rapper regalia and go, “YesyesYO! Yesyesyo!”, rap the intro to each song, and then Alma Moreno would writhe rhythmically onstage to a short musical clip. She’d lose an article of clothing as the countdown continue until all she was wearing was a tanga by song number one, her thunder hips in full display.

Kinda like strip poker.

Panel Collective in Vargas Museum, UP Diliman

I just visited Panel Collective, an exhibit focusing on the works of Point Zero members and some other individuals. The group was invited by Vargas Museum to showcase their art and the result is a compelling collection of sequential art. Remember Samuel L. Jackson’s comics gallery in Unbreakable? It kind of has the same effect. From t-shirts to mixed media to free reading material, this exhibit is worth visiting for fans of the current wizards of local comics.

Visit the Panel Collective exhibit at the Vargas Museum in UP Diliman, QC, which will last until June 28, 2009.

Beerkada Tour: Hacienda Escudero

Ariel A. and I had a blast drawing caricature buttons for the people who attended Karera sa Hacienda in bountiful Hacienda Escudero in San Pablo, Laguna last March 22, 2009. We were exhausted watching the bike racers go around and around the estate in the glaring Sunday heat.

Thanks to Ainee, Twinkle, and the rest of the organizers who prepared the event for escorting us there and feeding us during the entire event.
