Wikileaks

When I first started finding out about the internet, I thought it was merely a matter of time before the secret history of the world was going to be spread online. Who killed JFK? What’s hidden in Area 51? Where IS Area 51?
And the years passed.

Recently, I found out about a site called Wikileaks. This site’s mission was to provide an anonymous venue for the world’s whistleblowers. It’s pretty attack-resistant, too: it has multiple servers from across the world to thwart remote deletion, and the domain name holder, who resides in Africa, doesn’t get involved with the site operations. The US government once tried to shut down the Wikileaks’s domain registrar to de-list the site from the web, but zealous wikileakers spread the IP address, instead (see The Streisand effect). Wikileaks already cost a corrupt African leader his country’s election, and is leaking the vunerabilities of the US military’s JDAM weapons system.
The only thing the secret societies of the world can use against the site is data inundation, or hiding secrets within massive amounts of information. And the other weakness is sneaking in operatives inside Wikileaks itself, and make the anti-conspiracy agents a part of the conspiracy itself.

Ever watched a random anime…

…and wondered why Boazania, the Neo-Empire, Galactor, and all the conquest-loving villains keep attacking Japan? Is it some kind of low self-esteem that prevents them from attacking New York, the pop-culturally-established focal point of all disasters?

It’s like how Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah pointed out why the Amazon women from Planet Xxx would bother attacking a small village.

And then it hits me that only Hollywood would glorify New York (which is weird, because Hollywood is in Los Angeles) as the location for most of its action movies.

Even if, in the end, all the production is done in Toronto, nowadays. Or Prague.

That’s why I appreciated how Hancock chose Los Angeles as his base of operations. Well, at least until the last 5 minutes of the movie…

The 10th anniversary of 101 Boutique in UP Los Banos

I just successfully concluded a book signing during 101 Boutique‘s 10th year anniversary.

Wow. That’s the same anniversary Beerkada is celebrating!

Later that day, cartoonist-star Manix Abrera made an appearance in front of his screaming fans. During lunch, he shared a story about one of Manila’s most arrogant celebrities, which I will not divulge in this post. But I will draw a strip about it soon.

As thanks, 101 Boutique owner Dedz M. and his wife Cora toured me around the Los Banos campus, treated us to Thai cuisine, and gave me pasalubong of carabao pastillas, buko pie, and espasol. I was able to try something called Milkogel, which reminds me of leche flan but the PCC Dairy Corner used gelatin powder instead of eggs.

Later in 101 Boutique, Manix amused himself with some Laguna underpants.
Congrats to 101 Boutique and may it continue prospering in the next 10 years. And thanks for supporting Beerkada and my readers in Los Banos.

I just realized…

I was checking out the NHK channel in Global Destiny when it struck me how similar (as well as dull) it is to PTV 4, the Philippines government-owned station. And then I realized that NHK, and all the foreign channels, are OWNED by the governments of their respective countries!

That’s why the shows are so boring!

That’s why cable TV can afford to broadcast them!

Ahhhhh!

AHHHHH!
