it’s basically different names for the same article of clothing, I think they just rename the stuff periodically to make the outdated fashionable again. the calf-length pants are also known as highwaters, clamdiggers, shants, and jams. the modern male version are officially named knickerbockers internationally , the puruntong or JP’s (Johnny Puruntongs) locally.
Lee: the term ‘pedal pushers’ originated in the 50’s as they were the pre-spandex era bicycle shorts.
